January 2004

The Worthy Prez sez….

January  2004 ,and an exciting and challenging year is in store.  The past few weeks have been very rewarding.   Turnout was great at the Auction Sale with the money going towards the Carpet and Tile Fund.

We also had the  Wing-Ding Dinner.  The wings were great and the proceeds went to our Charity.  Following that was the Trustee Christmas Party.  Great food and a fun filled day.

And finally,  the New Years Party to end the year.  Thanks to everyone who gave their time and support for these activities.  I would also like to urge more people to get involved.  It’s  a fun and rewarding experience.

We have an inter-club Euchre Night scheduled with Gladwin on Tuesday, Jan. 6. , 7 P.M. at Gladwin. This is a fund raiser for our Charities and has always been a fun night.  Sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board.

In closing, I would like to extend a warm welcome to our new members and urge them to get involved.

Secord Lake Eagles……..what a fabulous Aerie!!!!!!!!  Have a safe and relaxing month.

See you at the meetings.

Adopt a Highway

Thank you to those that helped on the September Road Pickup.  Especially to the Club and everyone that supported and helped with this project during the past six years.  Litter and blight may never be eliminated but land with water and air are valuable resources not to be put on our list of disposables.  Jim Cooper will be the coordinator starting this year.  Please support him when he calls.

Thank you,

Norma Bedore

The Madam Prez sez…

To all of you who expressed your sympathy for the passing of my Mom,  Thank You .  The phone calls, the cards, the flowers and the knowledge that you held us both in your thoughts and prayers helped us get through this.

Special thank you to my Vice President Kathy Halloran, who stepped in and took care of all the things I couldn't handle  while I was gone.  I can't tell you how I feel about my Eagle sisters and brothers.

Our Auxiliary Raffle went very well, thanks to all who sold tickets, donated to our raffle, or supported us by buying our tickets.  Special thanks to Co-Chairman Darlene Barker and Kathy Halloran.

December is a month when many of us reflect on years gone by.  It's a time of joy for our children and grandchildren, a time of love.

After the hustle and bustle are over, it's a time to sit back and think how the Spirit of Christmas effects us all and how hopefully the coming of the New Year can give us all a fresh start.

I'll end this by hoping everyone had a joyous holiday and the New Year brings everyone the prosperity and happiness we all strive for.
