| The Worthy Prez sez…. Wow wasn’t September great! It will be tough to top the great start we had with Labor Day Weekend. If you didn’t stop by you missed an exciting Vegas Night and some fantastic entertainment. Aerie Chaplin Report Sympathy cards were sent to Bob Weaver for his sister’s passing, Bill Hoover for the loss of his brother, and to the family of one of our members, Joe LaFountain. Get well cards went out to Leo Pieniozek and Ron Baldwin. The month of September brought the 3rd anniversary of the World Trade Center attack. Let us keep the memories of those lost and their families, the service men and women around the world fighting to uphold our American ideals and beliefs, as well as all others lost in attacks on America in our hearts and prayers. Terry Gorgon Chaplain Trustee’sCorner The Board of Trustees want to emphasize, if you buzz in you must show your card to the Bartender. A reminder to our members, a lot of the people who buzz in are visitors to our Club and when they are greeted with “where is your card” it tends to make them uncomfortable and unwelcome. The Bartender is responsible for checking the cards and should be the only one who asks for a card. Country Breakfast The October Country Breakfast will be on Sunday the 3rd. Breakfast is served from 8 am to 11 am. This will be the last Country Breakfast until Spring. District Meeting The October District Meeting will be October 17th at 2:00 at Albright Shores. Join us to show your support for our Club, enjoy an afternoon of fellowship with other Eagle members and as always a great meal prepared. Vegas Night I want to thank the Vegas Nite workers, especially Tami Drake, Betty Bobbitt, Maxine Finch, Stephanie Gorden, Teach, Pat & Larry. The total for the night was $2400.00. Again, thank you. Madam President
Auxiliary Chaplin Report I hope this finds everyone enjoying the last days of summer. We thankfully didn’t have to send out a lot of cards. We sent a get well card to Cheri Bahm who had surgery. Thinking of you cards went out to Gordie Gardner whose wife is very ill and to Jan Davis whose son had an accident. Flowers were taken to Cheri Bahm. Sadly we sent sympathy cards to Dave & Cheri Bahm who had a death in the family, to Sheila La Fountain whose husband Joe died, the Irwin Bush family whose mother died and to Terry Gorgon whose grandmother died. Have a happy healthy month. Dianne Pigula Auxiliary Chaplin As I gaze upon the faces of my family and friends, I thank my lucky stars above for the love that never ends. For a century, the FRATERNAL ORDER of EAGLES has been a major influence Internationally, Nationally, Regionally, in our States and Provinces, AND most of all..... in our communities. It was the EAGLES who started Mothers Day, who provided the impetus for Social Security, who ended job discrimination based on age. Who've built training centers all over the world. Who raise millions of dollars every year to combat heart disease and cancer. Help handicapped kids, uplift the aged and otherwise make life a little brighter for people not as lucky and blessed as we are. We uphold and nourish the values of Home, Family and Community that are so necessary and it seems so often today, so ignored and trampled in society. We're home town builders. We support our police and firefighters and others who protect and serve us. We fund research in areas such as Heart Disease, Kidney Disease, Diabetes and Cancer. We help raise money for neglected and abused children and for the aged..... we are the Eagles, and we are People Helping People. We're volunteers and have fun volunteering. Our praises have been sung by Presidents and Prime Ministers, but still today too many people wonder 'WHO ARE THE EAGLES?" It's time to get out the word, WE ARE THE EAGLES! For 100 years we have been leaders in the effort to make the world a brighter and better place for everyone. |
