The Worthy Prez sez…. As I begin my term as Worthy President, I would like to thank Jerry Adair and all of the officers for their hard work and efforts this past year. You are what helps keep this Aerie strong. We have a lot of activities and entertainment planned for the summer. Watch the calendar and website for updates. We will be having entertainment every Friday and Saturday throughout the summer. Friday June 17th will be a Euchre tournament at 7pm.We will have the now famous Reuben sandwiches for dinner before the tournament and will be served from 5 till 8. Meetings in June will be on the 3rd and 4th Saturday because of the golf outing. Don’t forget to mark your calendar for the 20th anniversary party August 20th. In closing, I would like to give special thanks to Gary McRath and Jim Pickard for their past service as trustees. Also thanks to Frank Showak for taking over the Wing Ding dinners. I’m sure they all thought winter was over. I guess that’s Mother Nature’s joke. Michigan – gotta love it or leave it. A get well card was sent to John Finkbeiner, Norma Bedore’s brother. Ed Anderson lost his sister this month and Floyd L. Jeske passed away May 4th in Kawkawlin. I received an email from Pat Halloran this evening, May 15th, and Kathy is out of the hospital as of today and they will be staying with her parents for a few days before returning home. Mike Fletcher Casino Trip This Years Casino Trip will be September 15th and 16th. Sign up will be SAT JUNE 18th at 1:00p.m. in the club. Package is $85.00 per person, double occupancy, $40.00 back in cash, $10.00 in gold coin, dinner coupon, breakfast coupon, etc.....When signing up please remember, full amount of money is due upon signing, no refunds, we need your complete name, address, and smoking or non for the room, phone # would be helpful for next years trip. The casino tries to accommodate everyone, however if there is any problem, see your BUS MONITOR or DAVE and LEONA we will handle the problem. We have five buses this year, however, we will not open the 5th bus until the four buses are completely filled, we will try to get all groups together, but PLEASE remember this may not be possible, I try my best, but all buses must be filled in order to open the 5th bus Thanks, LEONA and DAVE Pontoon Parade 2005 Believe it or not, its time to think about Christmas! Christmas in July that is. That’s our Pontoon Parade Theme for 2005. This year’s parade will be Saturday July 2nd at 1:00 pm. Sign up sheets will be posted. Registration numbers will be given on parade day. Watch the Board at the Club and “Screech” on our website for more updates. Adopt a Highway Thanks go out to all of the participants in April’s Adopt-a– Highway Road Pickup. Don Lee, Frank Delecki, Don Green, Tom Harris, Bruce and Norma Bedore, Judy VanWambeke, Barry and Darlene Barker, Fren Irwin, Kathy Hourtienne and Jim Cooper cleaned up our three mile stretch of M-30 collecting 28 bags of roadside litter. We will schedule one more pick up later this summer. |

I would like to thank the outgoing Officers, Jan Alley, Gert Rose, Phyllis Faust, Evelyn Norton and Joani Dawson for all their help this past year. Thank you’s also go out to Barbie J and her volunteers for making the Mother’s Day corsages for the Nursing Homes. Three $1000 scholarship certificates were given our, one to Shaelyn Smith of Ogemaw Heights High School, Emily Lennon of Gladwin High School and Alyssa Adams of Beaverton High School. Presenters were Terry Gorgon, Mike Pigula, Bob Gorecki, Norma Bedore and Noreen Cooper. Love those Pasties. Congratulations to Toni McCarthy for being elected District 12 Outside Guard. I would like to thank everyone for their kind words, thoughts, prayers and the help this past month. My surgery went well and after 4 to 6 weeks recovery, I’ll be back and eager to have another great year. Kathy Halloran Madam President Auxiliary Chaplain Report Well another month has flown by and I am sure you are all wondering if warm weather is ever coming are way. I know I am. We sent get well cards to Suzanne Steven ,she had surgery, Betty Bobbitt, she had surgery, Norma Flynn who is recovering from a bad fall, several cards to Mike and Nancy Hill ,they are both having health problems, Mari Hasnick, she had surgery, Kathy Halloran who had successful surgery, Alice Beck who is very ill, Ann Dehn who fell and broke her kneecap and Kay Kennett, who had surgery on her wrist for the second time. Sympathy Cards were sent to Judie Downie, her father in law died, Ogie and Dallas Callahan, their grandson died and Lucinda Parker he was her nephew. We sent Kathy Halloran several thinking of you cards while she had tests done. Thinking of you cards also sent to Jan Alley, Cecelia Diffin, Kate Hitzler, Donna Springfield, Wanda Stewart, Nancy Hill, Lois Virden, the Blanchard family and Marge Butler just because we care. Please keep all of these people in your thoughts and prayers. We also sent a thank you to Cheryl Goode for her donation of foam coffee cups, plastic glasses and silverware. District Dinner The District Meeting and Dinner on May 15th was a huge success. Over 200 people attended this meeting. Many, many thanks to everyone whether you gave information, donated your time, deserts, made sign up sheets, dinner tickets, sold raffle or grab bags. Your support and praise is very appreciated. Again we can make a difference as people helping people. Norma Congratulations Congratulations to Past President Dave Huggard for a great year serving as District 12 Chairman and Past President Tom McCarthy who served as Jr. Past Chairman. This year Dave will serve as Jr. Past Chairman and Tom has been elected to serve as Outside Guard. Installation of Officers The installation of Aerie and Auxiliary Officers will be June 5th at 1:00. Boater Safety Class Our Aerie will be hosting a Boater Safety Class on Saturday June 11. The Class will start at 9:00 am and will be presented by the Gladwin County Sheriff Dept. |
