The Worthy Prez sez….

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. The committee chairs and their helpers of the following activities did an excellent job this past month: Vegas Night, The annual Harvest Dinner, ‘Suds & Sliders’, along with our monthly Team Euchre tournament. Thank you to all who supported and helped with these functions.
The Kid’s Christmas party will be on Saturday, December 16th. Also, on December 16th, the Board of Trustees will host the annual Christmas party to show their appreciation for your support all year long. All members are encouraged to attend and enjoy great food and entertainment. Our New Year’s Eve Party will again this year be open to all members. If you’d like, please bring a dish to pass. Please remember to check out our website, the outdoor signs and the table tents for upcoming events.
As this year comes to a close, (can you believe it?) I want to take this opportunity to thank the many volunteers, workers, committee chairpersons, and our Aerie and Auxiliary membership for all that you’ve done. Without each and every one of you, we could not be the Aerie we are today!
I would like to wish all of you and your families a Merry Christmas and a Healthy & Prosperous New Year. Please be good to yourselves and each other.
Please remember to keep our members having health problems as well as those soon to be traveling along with our Military men & women in your thoughts and prayers for their safe return home.
I would like to wish everyone a Most Merry and safe Christmas.

Curt Wingate
Worthy President

Aerie Chaplain’s Report
It is with a heavy heart that we have had to send two sympathy cards to our fellow Eagle brothers...Don (Red) Fournier, on the loss of his wife Shirley and also to Fred Ruppel on the loss of his son. Please remember to keep these brothers in your prayers. A sympathy card was also sent to Rick Blair whose mother-in-law passed away. “Get Well” cards were sent to James DuFresne who had a heart attack and triple bypass surgery, Ham Allman, and Richard “Lucky” Luckritz who had a heart attack and is now recovering.
As Christmas and the New Year approaches let us remember that just a simple smile  can sometimes make the difference in a persons day... a kind word,  a pat on the back, or the words “Good job” and “Thank you” can do wonders...........

Pray for Peace!
Dave Huggard , Aerie Chaplain

Note/Error Correction:
In the November newsletter a Euchre tournament was listed for Friday, December 17th. This was an error and there will be no tournament during December.

Harvest Dinner Thank You
We would like to thank everyone that helped us with the Harvest Dinner on November,15Th . Year after year it amazes us that so many people come together to help with the dinner. While this is an auxiliary function, we still get the help of many men, Bill Dawson not only cooks all the turkeys for us but also comes the next day and de-bones and slices them, Richard DeCook and  Rex Rowe for the great clean up job they did and Bob Gorecki for doing everything we asked him to do and Ted for doing the sauerkraut.  Kathy, Sue, Connie, Toma, Joani, Norma, Jan, Cathy, Linda, Phyllis, Agnes, Penny, Karon ,Tammy, and Mary for all the hard work and the donations of the pies and cakes. Thank you , Thank You, Thank you!!!!
We can't forget our great servers, Mary, Wendy and Sharon, these ladies never stopped serving the food and never stopped smiling...What a great crew!!!!!  They served almost 200 people! Like my granddaughter would say......Good Job!!!!
Once again we would like to say thank you to all the people who helped in any way with the dinner, 50/50, and everything else. Without you the dinner would not be a success, and a Big Thank You to all the people  who came to EAT. We hope you enjoyed the food as much as we did cooking it for you!

Children’s Christmas Party
Ho Ho Ho
Once again, ‘tis the season for our Children’s Christmas Party at the Eagles. The party will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2006 from 1:00- 3:00 PM. Children ages 12 and younger can and must be signed up at the Eagle’s by Sunday December 10. This will insure that Santa has a gift for every child in attendance. Also, I ask that you do not sign up children, who you know will not be in attendance. A lot of planning and spending goes into this party, and it is for our children and grandchildren who are able to share this special day with us. Thank you, and if you have any questions, feel free to call me at home 426-2083, or at the Eagles 426-3454.

“We are people helping people”

  The Madam Prez sez…

We have so many wonderful volunteers in this club. Kathy Halloran, our Past President, and her crew did a great job as usual putting together our district dinner and Evelyn Norton with her crew doing the grab bags. We had a lot of rave reviews about our club’s hospitality, the dinner, and our grab bags. Tina Conquest and her crew who put on a delightful display for all our ghouls and goblins. Leona Huggard and Toni McCarthy and their crew with their belly buster Harvest Dinner. Darlene Barker and Marge Chamberlain bake sale crew, and all of the wonderful bakers who donated baked goods, proceeds to go to the Gladwin Make-A-Wish Foundation. It is so nice to see so many people so willing to come together to make a difference!!
December 16th is our children’s Christmas party, chaired by Barb Jozefowicz. We have a sign-up sheet on the board for children 12 and under. Please remember Santa is not a mind reader, so please sign up the little ones to insure a gift will be waiting for them. The Aux. Christmas party will be held at 1:30 December 2nd at the Willow Tree, gift exchange is optional. A sign-up sheet is also on the board. Our Christmas tree for the nursing home residents is in the Social Room, help make a Merry Christmas for our elderly. Remember Dec 16th is also the Trustees Christmas party. This party is a “thank you” from the Trustees to our members. December 9th at 2 PM is our Texas Holdem for men and women – see if luck is on your side. This event is chaired by Deb Harris, our Vice-President. Our December meeting of the 23rd has been changed to the Tuesday, the 19th at 7 PM. May the Holidays be joyful for you with lots of good friends and family by your side. ‘Tis the season for giving and loving. God bless us all.

Auxiliary Chaplain’s Report
I hope everyone had a very enjoyable Thanksgiving. We sent “Thinking of you” cards to Dee Woods who is recovering from hip surgery, Esther Puggini who is very ill, and Flo Woods just to say we miss her and that we care about her. Get Well cards went to Mary Cameron who had surgery, Darlene Wyrybkowski who is having health problems, Joan Bruett who was in the hospital and had stints put in, Penny Kratz who has been having health problems also, and to Vicky Roulo who had surgery again. Sadly we sent Sympathy cards to Juanita Hernandez whose sister died, Janet Wiggins whose nephew died, the family of Shirley Fournier who passed away, and Elaine Stanbaugh who lost a couple of young relatives in a house fire.
I would like to send my apologies to the Wujcik family as it was Dick’s brother’s wife who died, not Pat’s. Please remember that I can’t send a card to you if no one lets me know that you could use a card to cheer you up or just to let you know that we care. I hope everyone has a safe, happy, and blessed Christmas and the happiest New Year ever!

The Trustees Corner
Please note that the 2nd Aerie & Auxiliary meetings for December have changed dates. Also the 2nd fish fry has been cancelled due to it’s proximity to Christmas. On December 16th the Children’s X-mas party will be held from 1-3 PM. Please see the enclosed article for more details. On that same date the Trustees will host the adult Christmas party from 4 PM until closing. All members are welcome and encouraged to attend. There will be food and reduced drink prices. Also there will be no euchre tournament during December. Again this year the club will have an open New Year’s Eve party starting at 8 PM on the 31st. Please bring a dish to pass and Curt will be DJ’ing for the evening.

RE: Harvest Dinner Bake Sale
A big “thank you” to all the great bakers and those who supported the bake sale, Without all of you we wouldn’t have had such a great sale. We are proud to have made $459.25 for the Make-A-Wish foundation once again.

Darlene & Marge

Auxiliary Christmas Party
This will be held on Saturday December 2nd at 1:30 PM at the Willow Tree restaurant in West Branch. Sign-up sheet in the Aerie, members pay their own meal, and a voluntary gift exchange ($15 maximum).

Thought for the day...
In case we find ourselves starting to believe all the anti-American sentiment and negativity, we should remember England’s Prime Minister Tony Blair's words during a recent interview. When asked by one of his Parliament members why he believes so much in America, he said: "A simple way to take measure of a country is to look at how many want in ... and how many want out."

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you:
1. Jesus Christ and
2. The American G. I.

One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

YOU MIGHT WANT TO PASS THIS THOUGHT ON, AS MANY SEEM TO FORGET BOTH OF THEM. AMEN!
