The Worthy Prez sez…. Well, Spring is right around the corner. It has been a little quiet at Secord without much snow this Winter. Hopefully we will get one more good snowfall for those snow lovers to enjoy. Our Wing Ding Dinner in January was a great success. Many thanks to the Wing Ding guys for all their help. Everyone had a great time at the Valentines party. Many thanks to the ladies who put together the decorations. We will be having a Euchre tournament on Friday March 17th. We will be serving Rueben Sandwiches between 5 and 8 PM. Our annual St. Patrick’s Day Party will be on Saturday, March 18th. Entertainment, corned beef and cabbage dinner, Jello shots, etc…..come on and join the fun. Dart tournament on March 11th for President’s charity, Special Olympics. We will be having a spaghetti dinner on Saturday March 25th. All proceeds will go toward the new roof. We will be having several dinners and functions over the next several months to raise money for the new roof. A raffle is in the works. Watch the newsletter and the website for further info. Please come and support your Aerie. We are looking for volunteers to chair a dinner or just help out with a dinner for a few hours. We really need your help. Tom Harris, Chairman Postal Rate Increase As you know, the price of mailing first class letters went up 2 cents as of January 8th. The cost of e-mailing remains the same. If any members on our regular mailing list can be reached by e-mail, please let us know so we can save postage. It'll not only save the Club money, but you can get your newsletter much faster. Annual Boat Parade Heigh Ho Mouseketeers! I know we just finished with The Santa Claus, and a Snow White winter, but it’s almost time to Return to the Sea for our annual boat parade! Stop being a Sleeping Beauty and You Can Fly to the store for the Bare Necessities to make your boat look Fantasia. Don’t be a Chicken Little. You can get Daffy or Goofy with your décor. You can use a Minnie motor boat or a Giant Peach of a pontoon. Just don’t be a Dumbo and sit Home on the Range like a Dinosaur, or you’ll be saying “Oh Pooh, I missed my chance to be Fun and Fancy Free”. The Incredible Journey will be held on Saturday, July 1st @ 12:00 PM, and in case you haven’t caught on yet, the theme this year is Disney—Any Disney! Proceeds will go to the Special Olympics. Pastie Bake Our annual pastie bake will be May 1st & 2nd. They must be ordered by April 21st and may be picked up after May 2nd. Pasties are $2.50 each. Please pay when ordering! | | The Madam Prez sez… The Grand Madam President, Roxann Alley and the State Madam President, Barbara Swint will be visiting our aerie on Wednesday, April 12th. They are planning on arriving around 4:00pm for a social get together with as many men and women as possible. Everyone is invited to stop in and meet these ladies. On Thursday, they would like to visit the nursing homes we helped at Christmas. We are asking for donations of magazines, sugar free candies, shampoos, conditioners, lotions, shaving cream and word search puzzles, the Auxiliary will then make up Easter baskets for the ladies to take to these nursing homes. The revised by-laws, which were adopted by the Auxiliary on November 26, 2005, have been approved. The fee for membership is now $12.00 and should be paid when the application is turned in. March is a busy month with moonlight darts, euchre, St Pat’s party, dinners and the district meeting in Harrison on the 19th at 2:00pm, so check the calendar. The deadline for registering for the state convention is April 15, if you are interested in attending the convention or in representing the auxiliary as a delegate, please let Kathie Hart know before our March 25th meeting. Just a reminder that nominations for all elective offices will be at the April 22nd meeting. Anyone interested in running for an office, but unable to be present has to give her written consent to have her name placed in nomination. Hope to see many of you at some of our functions. Kathy Halloran Madam President Auxiliary Chaplain’s Report The last couple of months have been busy. We sent thinking of you cards to Jan and Frank Alley, 3 cards to Cecelia Diffen and Harry, Sue and Stacy Beck, Mary Lou Harris, Naomi Fagg, Elaine Stanbaugh (she is home now), Virginia Hoffman, Teddy Wixom, Sharon Cohoon, Pat Wujcik and Marty Hatchew.Get well cards were sent to Vicky Roulo, Tammy Drake, Betty Ankney and Jan Davis. On a sad note we sent sympathy cards to Bob and Melissa Bentley on the passing of Bobs’ father, Bev Morris whose mother died, Virginia Bartlett whose sister died, Judy Knoph for the loss of her father, Maria Alward whose father-in-law died, and to Betty Ankney for the loss of her sister-in-law, Dorothy (Pee-wee) Ex. Dorothy was also Beverly Goode’s and Darlene Barker’s aunt so cards were also sent to these women. Wishing all a happy and healthy month. Please make sure your money, $86.00 per person, is paid by the 1st week of March to Dave or Leona Huggard, 246-0560. 50th Wedding Celebration We are planning a celebration for couples who will have been married for 50 years in 2006. If you belong to the Secord Lake Eagles and will be having your Golden anniversary this year, please call the club and give your name and date of marriage. We have eight couples now. Spaghetti Dinner We will be having a Spaghetti Dinner on Saturday March 25th, from 5-8 PM with all proceeds going to the new roof. Entertainment by DJ Curt. Veterans Day Chairperson, Bruce Hayes, would like to announce that there will be a day set aside to honor our Veteran’s this year. The date has yet to be determined. St. Patrick’s Day Party The St. Patty’s Day Party will be Saturday, March 18th beginning at 4:00 PM. A Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner will be served from 5-8 PM with entertainment to follow. Reuben sandwiches will be served Friday the 17th from 5 until 9 PM. |
