The Worthy Prez sez…. As you look at the leaves beginning to turn, you know that Fall is in the air. Soon we will begin saying goodbye to our snowbirds for the season. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has volunteered during our busy summer season. During the month of October, there are several events happening. On Sunday, October 1 from 8 AM till 11 AM., our final country breakfast for this year. The annual Michigan/Michigan State game celebration will be Saturday October 7. Secord Lake- 4121 will be hosting the District meeting on Sunday, October 15. All members are welcome to attend and show their support for our Aerie. Please remember that during the district meeting, the social room will not be open for business. The next team euchre night is Friday, October 20. There will also be another Texas Hold’em on Saturday October 21. The children’s and adult Halloween parties are happening on Saturday, October 28. On a personal note, I would like to extend my thanks for the many kind words, cards, and thoughts during the loss of my Mom. Please remember to keep our members having health problems as well as those soon to be traveling along with our Military men & women in your thoughts and prayers for their safe return home. Sincerely, Curt Wingate Worthy PresidentAerie Chaplain Report Since my last report in the newsletter, we have lost two brothers, Eugene Brunett, who passed away in late August and also, Herb Swan who passed away on Sept.12th, in Florida. Sympathy cards were sent to their families, also a sympathy card was sent to our Aerie President, Curt Wingate, on the passing of his mother, our love and prayers go out to all of the families. A get well card was sent to Frank Alley, he had his surgery at U.of M. on Sept.13th,remember to keep him in your prayers. PLEASE PRAY FOR WORLD PEACE Dave Huggard Aerie Chaplain Vegas Night We will be having a Vegas Night on November 11 from 5 till 12. Games will be Texas Hold’em, Blackjack, Roulette and Big Wheel. The success of our Vegas Night depends on the efforts of our volunteers. If you can help contact Pete Jakey at 426-6416 Attention Men Golfers The 16th Annual Secord Lake Eagles Men’s Golf Outing will be at the Snowsnake Golf Course in Harrison, MI on Saturday, June 9, 2007. The pre-registration entry forms have been available since September 8, 2006 at the Aerie bar. Forms must be turned in no later than October 21st. If there are more than 40 entry forms handed out a drawing will be held, as there are only 40 teams that will be playing. NEW: ALL GOLFERS MUST BE SECORD LAKE EAGLE MEMBERS !!!!!!!!! The Children’s Party will be at 1:00 and the Adult Party will be in the evening. Prizes for best costume and entertainment will make this a fun night with fun for all. “We are people helping people” | | The Madam Prez sez… The Coney and Fry Night was a huge success, Thank You Larry Santamoor for chairing this event & Thanks to all those who helped. We had our first joint Euchre on September 15th with Bob Town chairing. We will continue to have them every third Friday until spring. The Swiss Steak Dinner on September 30th has been changed to a Wing Dinner. Let’s keep our thoughts and prayers with Pete Jakey whom was chairing this, that all his tests come back good. A Special Thanks to Dianne Williams who is our new Conductor. Dianne has had some unexpected health problems arise, please keep her in your hearts and prayers. Cards and letters for her can be sent to Bruce Hayes address. Our October 28th meeting has been moved to October 24th at 7:00 pm. The meeting change was voted on at our last meeting so as not to interfere with the Kid’s Halloween Party. Just a tid bit, meetings are not just for Officers of the Auxiliary, they are for all members to be able to voice their opinions, so hope to see you there. Stephanie Manick Madam President Auxiliary Chaplain’s Report Thinking of You cards were sent to Joani Dawson, her mother was in the hospital, Melissa Bentley, to cheer her up, To Marge Songer, she had a little accident, to Pauline (Shorty) Smith, she went back in the hospital, to Joan Cookenmaster, to Virginia Puzjak her husband is ill, to the Alley family, Frank had surgery and to Diane Williams who is improving daily. Get well cards were sent to Diane Williams who was in the hospital, Mary Lou Harris, she injured her wrist, Pauline Smith who had surgery, Mary Fitzgerald who was in the hospital, to Naomi Fagg who was in the hospital and to Ann Dehn who is in for rehab after surgery. Sympathy cards were sent to Amanda King, her father died, Gene Burnett passed away, so we sent cards to Betty his wife ,Sandy and family, his daughter, Evelyn Norton and family he was her brother in law and Cathy Norton and family, he was their uncle. Sympathy cards also sent to Norma Bedore, her brother died, to Estelle Strick, her mother died and to Curt Wingate our Aerie President, his mother passed away. Dianne Pigula Auxiliary Chaplain 50+ Anniversary Party The 50+ Anniversary Party was a great success. Eight couples had their vows renewed by Rev. James Beck. We had couples who could not make it due to illness (We pray your are better soon) and couples that were out of town and couples who were golfing. We honored all of you, We all stood the trials and tribulations of half a century with one spouse (Whoa!). I would like to thank everyone for the wonderful food, Tom Harris and WP Curt Wingate for the beautiful roses, My helpers in the their cute bowties, MP Stephanie Manick, PMP Cathy Halloran, PMP Diane Mc Grath, Debra Poodly and Sandy Lobozinski, you girls made it special. Thank you Curt for the special gift of music and all who came to make this a special day. We had a mock wedding with Don Green and Carol Nowak, which was fun, now Don make it Legal, you’ve been engaged long enough! (just kidding) Thank All of You, Carla and Harold Sylva Did you Know?
