The Worthy Prez sez….

As summer begins to wind down, I would like to thank all who have contributed to our many functions.
Our family fun day was well received and I’d like to thank Jamie & his crew for grilling the chicken, Joanie & her crew for the adult games & prizes, and Maggie & her crew for the children’s games & prizes. Also, thanks to Chris for running “kid’s karaoke” along with the other volunteers for all their help. I’d also like to thank everyone who attended our Coney & Fries night, in support of the Auxiliary & Aerie President’s charity, Special Olympics. Our Vegas Night has been scheduled for later in the fall, on Saturday, November 11, 2006. Please remember to mark your calendars.
There will be a euchre tournament on September 15 with proceeds supporting the Aerie & Auxiliary. On Saturday, September 23 there will be a spaghetti dinner in support of our State President’s charity, from 5 p.m. til 8 p.m. There will be a Swiss steak dinner from 4 PM until 7 PM followed by our annual Sock Hop, beginning at 8 PM on Saturday, September 30. For additional details, check out the calendar, table tents & outdoor signs. Please keep our members experiencing health problems and the men and women in our Military in your thoughts and prayers for their safe return home.

Sincerely,

Curt Wingate
Worthy President

PRAY FOR WORLD PEACE AND FOR THE SAFE RETURN OF OUR TROOPS

Wertz Warrior-Special Olympics
Saturday August 12, Digger O’Dell and Dave LeBlanc, representatives of the Wertz Warriors arrived after the Aerie meeting in time to accept a donation of over $2400.00 to benefit the Special Olympics. The Michigan Special Olympics has been the President’s chosen charity of both the Aerie & the Auxiliary during Mike Pigula and Kathy Halloran’s term as presidents and again this year with President’s Curt Wingate and Stephanie Manick. Both the Aerie and Auxiliary want to thank the many members who put on fund raisers, and those who supported and donated to this worthy cause. You all did an outstanding job. Keep up the good work. “We are people helping People” is a very good quote for our Secord Lake Eagles club.
Joanne LeBlanc

  The Madam Prez sez…

I would like to thank all who volunteered for Family Fun Day as most of us did indeed have a lot of fun. Remember we can only have fun if we make fun ourselves. We have a lot of days left in this calendar year so let’s spend them thanking others for what they have done, even if we don’t understand why, as in time, we will. With September & October we still have a lot more sunny days to soak up the sun, but don’t forget to enjoy what the club, our club, has to offer. September 15th has a euchre tournament, September 16th the 50th Wedding Anniversary Party—and even if you haven’t been married that long come see what helped these couples stand the test of time, September 23rd the spaghetti dinner for the State President’s charity. September 24th please come and honor our Veterans, September 30th a Sock Hop which proved to be a lot of fun last year with a swiss steak dinner from 5-8 PM before the hop.
On October 7th come cheer for your favorite team at our UofM/MSU party. Go Blue ! October 15th we host the District meeting, October 21st is a Texas Hold’Em tournament, and October 28th come watch your little goblins for our Kids Halloween Party.
And last, but not least, be kind to one another with an act or a word. Bless us all !

Stephanie Manick
Madam President

The Trustee’s Corner
We are asking all members to please refrain from moving the tables in the social room. We understand that on crowded or busy nights people want to sit close to their friends and drag tables together. In actuality several seats are lost, the aisles become crowded making it difficult for people or the bar staff to maneuver, and the carpeting is torn or ripped. The B.O.T.’s has just had a section of the carpet molding near the pool table repaired at a cost of $175.00. Also, at the end of the night the barmaids cannot move the tables back by themselves, nor can Barry Barker when he comes to clean in the morning. So again, we ask that you please leave the tables as they are. The popcorn machine is a convenience to the members. If you spill it on the floor—Clean it up please! In the mornings there is popcorn spilled all over. Don’t overfill your basket as you can come back for more. The oil in the popcorn leaves the carpet stained. Treat our Aerie like you would your home. Thank you,
The Board of Trustees
