The Worthy Prez sez….
Happy New Year!! As we look forward into 2007, it’s a good time to reflect on all that has occurred during 2006. The many volunteers who contribute to our many functions make Secord Lake # 4121 the place to be!

This is a 2 month newsletter so please watch your calendar, the outdoor signs and the table tents for all the upcoming events.

Bob Town will chair Euchre tournaments on Friday, January 19th, and Friday, February 16th. Also, there are special events being planned, in addition to our regularly scheduled activities, including a Valentines party February 10th, and a Texas Hold’em February 17th.

There is a donation jar on the corner of the bar to support the Aerie & Auxiliary President’s Charity – Special Olympics. As a reminder, the Aerie business meetings are held the 2nd & 4th Saturdays of each month beginning at 9:30 A.M. I hope to see you there.

Please keep our members experiencing health problems and the men and women in our Military in your thoughts and prayers for their safe return home.

Sincerely,

Curt Wingate
Worthy President

Aerie Chaplain Report
Get well wishes were sent to Bill Cameron,  who had open heart surgery in Florida.

Sympathy cards were sent to Paul Girlish on the passing of his brother, Dan Girlish and also to John Boyce on the passing of his father, John. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.

As the spirit of the New Year comes into our hearts let us remember all of our brothers who are ill,   and also please say a special prayer for all of our brothers and sisters who have left us this past year for a better place , while their suffering is done the emptiness in the hearts of their loved ones still remain and our love and sympathy goes out to them all.

Hope the New Year brings health and healing to all that need it and the future is full of sunshine and love to everyone.
Dave Huggard
Aerie Chaplain

SPECIAL OLYMPICS OF MICHIGAN
Madam President Stephanie Manick & Worthy President Curt Wingate, the Presidents of the Secord Lake 4121 have chosen the Special Olympics of Michigan as their Presidents Charity. January 28th 2007 Mark (The Bird) Fydrich, along with 16 to 20 Wertz Warriors will be visiting our club. They will arrive in the morning at about 9 AM. Please come down to the club to meet and welcome them. Each year, 65 riders (aided by a support crew of 30) drive their snowmobiles 900 miles, criss-crossing the state, raising money along the way. All money raised goes to fund the Special Olympics of Michigan Winter Sports program including the State Winter Games. This is a year-round program of sports training and competition for the mentally & physically impaired. It is for these courageous athletes that Wertz Warriors face the challenge of a grueling, 900-mile snowmobile ride.

This year the Secord Lake Eagles are participating by helping to raise money for this worthy cause. We will be selling raffle tickets. The tickets will be sold for $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. First Prize is $250, Second prize is $100, and Third prize is a basket of Cheer. This is our opportunity to impact the lives of others positively.

Camel Races
The camels are well-fed, rested and ready to race. The harem girls are primped, preened and ready to roll the dice. It's time for our third Camel Race! Mark your calendar for March 24th.Come in and cast your vote for best-decorated camel, then bet on, and cheer for, all of your favorites. This is one event you DON'T want to miss. Watch the March Newsletter for more details.

“We are people helping people”

  The Madam Prez sez…
We have convinced ourselves that it is our job to take care of everything and everybody. While we do have responsibility there are also many things we do no have to do. We have to understand everything. Some things are no our business and other may simply never make sense to us.

We don’t have to be reluctant to show our feelings, when we are happy, show it. When we are not turn to a friend who can help you grow through the tough times. We don’t have to feel threatened by the future. We can take life one day at a time. We don’t have to feel guilty about the past. With the help of our friends we can learn from out mistakes.
We don’t have to feel alone. We can pick up a phone and call a friend. We don’t have to take responsibility for other people’s choices. They have to make their own decisions and we don’t have to give up on our hopes and dreams, God is not limited by our lack of imagination.

This year has gone by so fast, with many events that were successful and some learning experiences. We learn and grow with each step we take in life, sometimes we have to stumble to learn what life has to teach us. Learning to say thank you and to truly appreciate other kind word and actions should be the easiest thing w do in life. So remember if you can’t say anything nice don’t say anything at all.

Please keep Diane Williams, our Madam Conductor and Dianne Pigula, our Madam Chaplain in your thoughts and prayers. They need to know we need them and appreciate their kind hearts and thought that they have brought into our lives. May God watch over our sisters. We love you both.

Madam President

Auxiliary Chaplain’s Report
My vision can be so limited. I often think that the only possible outcome are those that I can imagine. Fortunately God is not restricted by such logic. In fact, some of the most wondrous events grow out of what appears to be disaster. When I can’t se any way out and I doubt that even God can help me, that when I most need to pray.

Sympathy cards were sent to Virginia Hoffman, the Puggin family, Patty Slusher, the Strousse family, Mary Lou Harris, Brenda Hillicker and Linda Girlish.

Get well cards were sent to Tammy McRae, Leona Huggard, Judy Murray, Bonnie Hargarves, Vicki Roulo and Dixie Town.

Thinking of you cards were sent to Mary Harris, Judy Webber, Alice Beck, Donna Springfield, Sharon Cohoon, the Alley family, Gloria Mercier, Jerry Hurd, Joan Cookenmaster, Naomi Fagg, Mary Lou Harris, Ann Dehn, Virginia Puzjak, Pauline (Shorty) Smith, Flo Woods, Donna Cowles, Kate Austin, Patricia Brown, Nancy Piontik, Mary Carter, Judy Skrel, and Karen Gorecki. Just to let them know we care and to wish them a Merry Christmas and a blessed Happy New Year.

Please keep our Conductor, Diane Williams and our Chaplain, Dianne Pigula in your thoughts and prayers..
