The Worthy Prez sez….

It’s good to see so many of our members returning from their winter retreats to enjoy another Michigan summer at Secord Lake. The Mother’s Day breakfast was a great success and I’d like to thank the many workers for their efforts. As you may have heard, Stephanie and I were taped to a wall to support our charity, Special Olympics. Thanks to all who participated with your contributions. The moonlight dart tournament was quite successful. Thanks to Jim & Norene Cooper for running the event. Thank you to Bob Town for chairing the euchre tournament. Our Vegas night was also quite successful. Thank you to Jim O’Connell along with the many volunteers. Stephanie and I presented scholarship checks to 3 deserving students on behalf of the Secord Lake Eagles. Thank you to the scholarship committee for their time spent reviewing and considering each application. There are several events planned during the upcoming summer months. I hope you are able to come out and support these functions. Please check out the calendar, table tents and outdoor signs for further details.
It has been my honor to serve as your Aerie President this past year, and I look forward to serving this upcoming year as well. Thank you to the Aerie and Auxiliary officers and members for your support this past year. I would like to welcome our newest trustee, Mike Fitzgerald, and thank Dave Huggard and Larry Robinson for their service this past year.
Please keep our members experiencing health problems and our Military men & women in your thoughts and prayers for their safe return home.

Sincerely,
Curt Wingate, Worthy President

Aerie Chaplain Report
As my term of Chaplain winds down I would ask that all the members of the Aerie pray for peace and the safe return home of our soldiers. I am sure that most, if not all, of us have had some sort of contact with soldiers, families of soldiers, our friends and or relatives of soldiers who need our prayers daily, let us not forget them ever.
Get well cards were sent to Gary McRath, Fred Marszalek, Earl Stanbaugh and Jim Stevens. We hope that you are feeling better and our thoughts for a quick recovery are with you all. Sadly, sympathy cards were sent to Janet Hoover on Bill’s death and to Jerry Tillman on the loss of his brother. Dave Huggard, Aerie Chaplain
As this is my last report, let me say that it has been a pleasure to serve as your chaplain for the last 6 years. I pass my chair to Anna Robinson. I know she’ll do a great job.
Dianne Pigula, Auxiliary Chaplain

CASINO SIGN-UP DATE CHANGED
The date for the casino sign up has been changed to June 23rd, at 1:00 PM at the club. Payment of $107.00 is due then.  SORRY FOR THE CHANGE OF DATE !
Dave and Leona Huggard

SHIRT ORDER INFO
For all of you that ordered the denim shirts…The order has been placed and I will let everyone know when they come in.

BLOOD DRIVE
Mark June 26th on your calendar. That's the date of our Blood Drive, chaired by Norene Cooper and administered by the Michigan Community Blood Center. The drive will be conducted between noon and 5:00 PM. During the past year, several of our members have received life-saving blood from the Center. This is our opportunity to help pay them back, or rather, pay them forward. More details will be posted on the board as they become available from the Blood Center.

MICHIGAN CANINE SEARCH & RESCUE BENEFIT
JULY 14, 2007 1:00 PM TO 5:00 PM

The Madam Prez sez…

At this time I would like to thank all the volunteers who chaired or helped on committees, functions, and any other events the Auxiliary has done this past year. It was all your help and donations that makes this club what it is today. Curt and I have taken a second term in office and we hope to make this year even better. We are looking forward to having new volunteers as well as our “tried and true” ones. To mention all of them this past year would take every inch of this newsletter.
July 7th is our Camel Races and if you’ve never been before please come and join us as they are a lot of fun. Remember the 1st Sunday of each month is our Country Breakfasts. July 14th from 1-4 PM is the K-9 demonstration of their training and search abilities – always an amazing display. July 15th has the Boater’s Safety course from 9-3. July 28th hosts a Scavenger Hunt from Noon to 6.
Remember Auxiliary meetings are the 2nd Tuesdays of the month @ 7PM and 4th Saturdays @ Noon. These meetings are not just for officers as all Auxiliary members are welcome and encouraged to attend. We need your input to make the Auxiliary a success. Installation of officers is Sunday, June 3rd—Please bring a dish to pass. Have a safe and happy summer.

Stephanie Manick, Madam President

Auxiliary Chaplain’s Report
I’m praying the last month was a safe & healthy one for everyone. We sent get well cards to Karen Gorecki – she’s having health problems, Darlene Barker – she had hand surgery, Mary Paquette – she had surgery, and Judy St. Louis (Elaine’s daughter-in-law) because of her heart problems.
We sent “thinking of you” cards to Joan Marszlek – Fred was in the hospital and Elaine St. Louis – her nephew John has to have surgery and because of Judy’s problem above. We sadly had to send a sympathy card to the Hoover family upon Bill’s passing.
Remember to keep our members & their families and the men and women fighting to protect us in our thoughts and prayers. Ask
God to watch over them, protect them, and bring them home safely.
As this is my last report, let me say that it has been a pleasure to serve as your chaplain for the last 6 years. I pass my chair to Anna Robinson. I know she’ll do a great job.
Dianne Pigula, Auxiliary Chaplain

HOORAY FOR THE U.S.A. (Courtesy Of The Red White and Blue)
Hello once again! This will be your final reminder about our annual Secord Lake Boat Parade honoring the 4th of July! The theme is “Hooray For The U.S.A!” Yes red, white and blue… anything that makes you proud to be an American! Now, my request…. Ted and Barbie are the lead boat, and we will have many people on board to honor veterans or their surviving family members. I am asking for a HUGE Secord reception when boat #1 passes your way, to let these veterans or their surviving family members know how much their service and sacrifice means to us as Americans! I am talking flags, salutes, standing ovations! Let these guests on boat #1 know how much we value the sacrifice they have all made for us with past service, current service, or the loss of a family member who was one of God’s chosen ones. The date is Saturday, June 30.2007. Sign up is 11:00am with cast off at 12:00 noon. I hope to see a record number of entries (which is free) to support this year’s parade. Also, if you have friends or neighbors that are not on the water, please extend use of your yard so that they may view everyone’s hard work for this parade. As always there will be prizes awarded.
Thank you all, and God Bless America!
Barbie J. 426-2083

TRUSTEE’S CORNER
First off, the Board of Trustees would like to welcome Mike Fitzgerald on his election and to thank Larry Robinson for his year of service to the Board. There are 3 things that we would like to inform our members about. First is that we had, in an attempt to save the Aerie money, ordered many of our pop in plastic containers so that any unfinished bottles could be sealed and reused the next day. As we found out, the pop not only cost more per ounce in the 20oz bottles, but the storage of product and returnables turned out to be a fiasco. The savings of not having to throw out partial cans at the end of the night was more than eroded by the higher cost. For this reason we are discontinuing this practice and phasing out the bottled pop.
Next is that after discussion with the Aerie secretary we are considering raising our drink prices. Our wholesale beverage costs have been rising, surely driven in part by increasing gas prices, as well as all other costs of running the club. As many are aware our prices are still below many aeries in the area. We wish to maintain and improve the Aerie and it is costing more each day. This is just an FYI as no decision has been made.
Lastly, through need of both the Aerie & Auxiliary secretaries, as well as requests from the membership, we will be establishing Wi-Fi internet service in the Aerie. This will allow not only the secretaries, but all of our members with wireless capable laptop computers to share a high speed internet connection. It might even be possible for boats at the dock to use the service depending on our wireless routers signal strength. We hope to have this service up and running by early June.
