The Worthy Prez sez…. Greetings to all of our “snow birds” and “snow bunnies”! Since our last newsletter, many activities occurred, and several more are planned for the upcoming months. On January 28th, the Wertz Warriors along with Mark “The Bird” Fydrich visited our Aerie and were presented a check on behalf of the Aerie & Auxiliary Presidents charity, Special Olympics of Michigan (SOMI). There are several autographed hats being auctioned in continuing support of our charity. Our Valentines Party & Steak dinner was a great success. I’d like to thank to Norene Cooper and crew along with Bill Dawson and Lucky for all their efforts. The team euchre tournament chaired by Bob Town on February 16th was quite successful as well. I just want to take a minute to report on the children's annual Christmas party. This was the first time I have chaired this event, and I do believe everyone had a nice time. I truly could not have pulled this off without the help of Santa Claus and ALL of his elves. We had elves who donated $$, some who set up, shopped, cooked, cleaned, wrapped gifts, donated cookies, candy and prizes, and those who helped with the children. Here we go..( please forgive me if I missed anyone) - the Aerie, the Auxiliary, the Barnes’, Fred & Jan, Pat & Kathy, Stephanie, Butch & Penny, Betty & Sandy B., Brenda O., Carol N., Nut-C & Dawn, Norene C., Anna R., Leona H., Pat S., The Norton’s, Darlene B., Maggie G., Marge C., and a special thank you to Al & Phyllis F., for the GIANT stocking they made filled with prizes for the children. Also Santa, we know you get hot being inside for so long in your outdoor Santa clothes...bless you and thank you! Lastly to our two ladies Dianne Pigula, and Diane Williams, who volunteered to help but could only be with us in spirit, as they were battling life threatening heart problems in the hospital, thank you for all you do and God bless you and your health in this new year. Let's make it a great year! Barbie J. FUN RUN—MARCH 10TH Remember how much fun the “Poker” runs were. Well, the “Fun Run” promises to be all that and more. Secord Fire Association Deb Podoley, Carla Sylva, Emra Blakely TRUSTEE’S CORNER As the club and the membership grows with each year, so do the requests for the use of the Aerie’s facilities for different functions. The BOT’s has adopted a new policy to request the use of the club and the dates for such events. Please submit in writing all requests, along with the date desired to the BOT’s. The date the request is received will be noted and all requests will be reviewed at the Trustee meetings that occur twice a month before the regular Aerie meetings. The Board will determine the merits of each request for the benefit of all members of the Aerie. In the event of multiple requests for the same date, the earliest dated request will be granted. We hope this makes the request for use of the club more equitable for all involved. Thank you, BOT’s We are people helping people”
