The Worthy Prez sez….
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. The committee chairs and their
helpers of the following activities did an excellent job this past month: the
pasty dinner, our annual Harvest Dinner & bake sale, and our monthly Team Euchre
tournament. Thank you to all who supported and helped with these functions.
On Saturday, December 12th, the Children’s Christmas party, Friday, December
18th, the monthly euchre tournament, and Saturday the 19th, the Board of
Trustees will host the annual Christmas party to show their appreciation for
your support all year long. All members are encouraged to attend and enjoy great
food and exchange holiday pleasantries. There will be tickets on sale for this
year’s New Year’s Eve Party. There are several events scheduled for the upcoming
winter months. Please remember to check out our website, the outdoor signs and
the table tents for upcoming events.
As 2009 comes to a close, I want to take this opportunity to thank the many
volunteers, workers, committee chairpersons, and our Aerie and Auxiliary
membership for all that you’ve done. Without each and every one of you, we could
not be the Aerie we are today!
Please remember to keep our members experiencing health problems as well as
those who are traveling along with our Military men & women in your thoughts and
prayers for their safe return home.
I would like to wish all of you and your families a Merry Christmas and a
Healthy & Prosperous New Year. Please be good to yourselves and each other.
Sincerely,
Curt Wingate
Worthy President
Aerie Chaplain Report
Greetings Get well cards were sent to Anthony Halloran and to Wally Goeckel
who were having health problems and sympathy cards were sent to Gary Dobias,
Henry Stefanski, and Tom McCarthy on the passing of a family member. Please
remember to keep in your thoughts and prayers these people.
Remember to pray for peace and for all the people in the service who are
protecting us.
In Peace, your Chaplain,
Dave Huggard
Charity Gaming in January
The Aerie will be using one of their gaming licenses for 4 nights at Hunters
Grill & Bar in Gladwin January 20th thru the 23rd. We need to have 2 workers
from our club on the premises during the gaming hours in exchange for which the
club will receive 50% of the proceeds. We have been told that could be as much
as $1500 and would come in mighty handy to pay a gas bill at that time of year.
If you would like more information or are interested in donating some time to
help us with this event, please contact Jim O’Connell or Butch Blanchard.
A BIG Thank You
to everyone who volunteered their time and efforts in making our Annual Polish
Fest a great success! We couldn’t have done it without each and every one of
you.
Also, thank you to everyone who came to the Polish Fest and enjoyed the good
food and supported our annual event. See you next year!
Sincerely,
Rob, Leona, and Mary
Secord Lake Eagles Winter Fest is coming soon!
The second annual Winter Fest is back. This year we will have the event on
January 23rd, weather permitting, and if we do not have the snow or ice we will
move it to February 20th. Bring friends and family for fun, eats, drinks and
games. Events will include Blind Person Snowmobile Obstacle
Course, Turkey Bowling, Redneck Horseshoe, Chipping golf balls and more. We will
have food and drinks in the Pavilion. We will be cooking Brats and Hot Dogs on
the grill and making Hobo Stew over a bonfire. Remember the dates: January 23rd
or February 20th. Events will start at 1:00 P.M. We will have ticket
packages for families for the games.

Camel Races
Just a reminder, planning is underway for our Camel Races, to be held on March
27th. If you are interested in sponsoring a camel, contact Jim and Norene Cooper
(426-2809) or Larry and Pat Santamour (426-2297). We hope to begin getting
camels out to sponsors soon after the beginning of the year.
Silver (25th) Anniversary Celebration
A committee has been formed to start planning for the aerie’s 25th anniversary.
The date of August 28, 2010 has been chosen. We are asking for members photos of
the club going back to its beginning. If you have a collection of older photos
please put them in an envelope with your name, address and phone number and drop
them off at the club. They will be scanned and returned to you. Also needed is
any information about the current whereabouts of our charter members so that
they may be contacted and informed of our celebration.
Thank You Bakers!
I would like to thank all of the women who donated the “goodies” for my bake
sale on November 15th. Over $300 was raised for our president’s charity (Hospice
of Gladwin County). Thanks again ladies !!

The Madam Prez sez…
Happy Holidays to all of my Eagle friends! It's hard to believe it's that time
of year all ready. Our Harvest Dinner was a huge success again. Thank you to
Leona and her crew for putting on a wonderful meal as usual. I also want to
thank Carol for her bake sale expertise, and all of the bakers who contributed
to the cause. The money from this sale was dedicated to our Presidents'
Charity "Hospice of Gladwin County". Thank you very much! Congratulations to
Bob Bentley for having the high bid on our car auction, and thank you for your
support to the Ladies Auxiliary. We hope you enjoy your auto!
Don't forget the ladies luncheon at Matthew's, on Saturday, Dec. 5th - 1:00
PM. Also the children's Christmas party with Santa on the 12th. (sign those
kids up so Santa has gifts for all) The Trustees Christmas party for all of our
members will be on December 19th. Keep your eyes and ears open for our winter
festivities coming up in January and February. We have just as much fun in the
winter as we do in the summer - just bundle up! Thank you all for your prayers
during my son and his fiancé's tragic loss of her mother. We will miss you
Kim! In closing, I want to wish all of my Eagle friends and family a very safe
and healthy holiday season. Be kind to each other and appreciate what you
have! Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!
God Bless and Secord Smiles,
Barbie Jozefowicz

KISSES AND HUGS AND GREAT BIG "THANK YOU'S"
To all of the people who helped on the Harvest Dinner, old and new, Toni and
myself want to thank you for all of the hard work that was put into the meal,
50/50 sellers, money takers, etc... We also would like to thank all of the
people that attended the function, without YOU there would be no Harvest Dinner.
A profit of over $1000.00 was made and put into the Aux. social fund.
Thank you, thank you, and thank you again!

Trustee’s Corner
The BOT’s have tried to honor a request for the non-smokers in our club. We have
designated 4 tables in the southwest corner of the Social Room as a “No Smoking”
area. We have found that members are moving the signs to other tables so that
they may sit with their friends. Please respect our “Non-smokers” and the
placement of these signs by leaving them in place.
We are again accumulating a large number of dishes and containers left over from
special functions. Please remember to claim any items that you have brought in
to the club or they will be given away or disposed of.
The club is experiencing financial hard times and we are looking to cut costs
and raise revenue wherever possible. We are looking at cutting back on Happy
Hour, Sports Sunday, raising drink prices, etc. In the past year alone we have
found a 50% decrease in our weekly income from the Charity Games tickets.
Members can help cut our costs also by remembering that when you bring in food
and have leftovers that those foam carry-out containers cost the club a good bit
of money. If you need some to send food home with people please make a donation
to offset their cost.
From the Golf Committee
On October 10 we had received 49 applications to play in the June 19, 2010 golf
outing. As usual we had to pare down to 44 teams. A drawing was held to pick 5
teams for removal. They have all been notified and were told that their teams
will be placed as alternates in the order that they were drawn if any team drops
out or does not have their money in by May 1st. This deadline is without
exception – no “the check’s in the mail” excuse. This will be the last notice.
Have a good winter and see you at the golf course next year.

The 1993 Buick Roadmaster is gone! Thanks to Bob Bentley for his generous
donation. The ladies are happy to see it was such a worthy project. Also, thanks
