The Worthy Prez sez….
Welcome to Fall at Secord Lake. A lot of us will start putting boats away, and some will head south for the winter, whatever your task please be safe. Many thanks to Dave and his crew for a very successful Vegas Night. October 3rd is the last Country Breakfast, thanks to Butch and the morning Crew for their work all summer. There are many activities planned for the following months. The best way to stay updated is to check the web page and the web calendar. Just a reminder the deadline for articles for the newsletter is the 15th of the month, there is a folder in the hallway near the Secretaries offices. Also the Trustees have moved their meetings to the Thursday prior to the regular Men’s meeting at 9:00 AM. Remember, the Madam President and I have chosen the Sacred Heart Mission in Gladwin for our Presidents Charity and there is a donation basket in the hallway between the Bingo Hall and the Social Room for donations of goods. See you at the meetings.

Fraternally,
Worthy President

Vegas Night Report
A HUGH Thank You to all of our workers who made Vegas Night a success. Once again all your hard work paid off! The Club profited $1,450 and everyone had fun! Once again Thank You, Black Jack dealers, Roulette Spinners, Big Wheelers and Texas Hold’em dealers, admission people, money pay-outers, set-up and take down people, my Pit Boss and, of course, the players. Hope everyone had fun and am looking forward to your help next Memorial Day.

Another Steak Cook-Out Success
Thanks to everyone who came out for the Labor Day Steak Cook-Out and also to those who purchased steaks and corn on the cob afterwards. It was a successful event for the Auxiliary and fortunately the weather was decent. A very special thanks to all of the workers (just too many to name!) - as always, I couldn’t have done it without you!!
Thanks Again
Carol Nowak

25th Anniversary Party Huge Success
The 25th Anniversary Committee, Mike Pigula, Curt Wingate, Sandy Brunett, Cathy and Russ Norton, Kathie Hart, Larry Santamour and Linda Girlish would like to thank all the volunteers for their hard work in making our 25th anniversary celebration a huge success!! A special thanks to the Michigan State Aerie and Auxiliary Officers who ran the ritual honoring our charter and Past Presidents. The food was absolutely fabulous and the band was truly appreciated by the crowd. Thanks again for all the helpers—our success was due to the extraordinary efforts of all involved.
The 25th Anniversary Committee

Trustees Corner
Recently we communicated in the Trustees corner about saving seats at the bar. We have had some conflicts from some of the members about what the statement means. Our intention was to allow each and every member to have an opportunity to set at the bar.
Please use some common sense, if you are going to spend time away from the bar playing games or leaving for a while you should give up your seat. Let’s be courteous to our fellow members.
Thank you B.O. T.

 Kids Haunted Eagle Party
The Kids Halloween Party will be held October 30th from 2—4 PM. All kids welcome up to age 14!!!!

The Madam Prez sez…
Hello Eagle Friends,
As another month escapes us, we have a lot of fun memories to hang on to.  Our 25th Anniversary Party was absolutely amazing!  The committee did such a beautiful job recognizing our charter members, past Presidents, and State and National officers who joined us for this milestone celebration.  The food was great, the band was awesome, and our boat ride with our VIP's - not so cold this time!  If you missed it, you definitely missed out!  Vegas night kicked my butt serving drinks, and the event was well attended.  Thanks Dave Huggard and all of his workers (Oh... and all you gamblers too!)  The annual Labor Day Steak Cookout was delicious, thanks to Carol Nowak and all of her volunteers!  Well, this month brings us our 3rd annual Polish Dinner Fest on Saturday, October 2, 2010, and we've expanded our horizons with live Polish music this year!  Should be great fun!  If you are willing to help pull off this big event, please see Mary Grayson or Sharon Pomerville.  On Saturday, October 9, 2010, we will once again cheer on U of M, and MICHIGAN STATE (go green!), at one of our biggest parties of the year, so save the date!  Hopefully there will be a Halloween Party this year - any volunteers?  Don't forget to check the online edition of  "secordlakeeagles.com"  for any updates and changes,  They do happen frequently.  Until next month - Our Aerie is a GREAT Aerie!

God Bless and Secord Smiles,
 Barbie Jozefowicz
 Madam President

Thursday Bingo
We are very sorry to announce that Thursday bingo will have it's final night, on Thursday, September 16, 2010.  After 17 years of hosting Thursday night bingo, attendance has gotten so low, that it is impossible to continue, without losing money.  We want to thank all of the people who have supported our efforts throughout the years, and remind you that WEDNESDAY NIGHT BINGO WILL CONTINUE all year long, with crazy Al calling all of your favorite numbers!  See you on Wednesday!

Harvest Dinner
It's getting to be that time of year again.  Our annual Harvest Dinner will be held as always on November 15th (it's a Monday this year), from 5:00 - 9:00PM.  We will also be holding a bake sale that day, and a 50/50 raffle.  This is the first function I have chaired and it's a big one, so I hope that everything goes well.   I'll need lots of donations and volunteers for this to be a great success.   Please watch for sign-up sheets on the bulletin board.  This dinner is open to the public, so tell your friends!  If you need any more information please contact Melinda Taylor at 989  632-2138.  Thanks again and hope to see you all there!
